What Inspired the Book?

Grazina’s Interest with LTQR began early in her career, when she discovered that documentation is far more than just “keeping records in order.” Instead, she came to see it as the foundation of accountability, quality and safety across a crane’s entire lifecycle. Having learned much of this on the job, she wanted to give others a head start. Grazina also saw an opportunity to inspire future generations to pursue careers in nuclear and defence sectors, areas where the stakes are high and the projects ground breaking. After spotting a gap in the market, Grazina set out to write the first dedicated book on LTQR.

A Turning Point: From ‘Paperwork’ To Project Glue

Grazina shared a pivotal moment that shaped her passion for quality management. Early in her career, she worked on a project where documentation was treated as an afterthought – until one small oversight caused delays, extra costs and significant stress. “From that moment,” she explains, “I began to see documentation differently not as paperwork, but as the glue that holds a project together and protects people, equipment and outcomes.”

That experience planted the seed for the book and inspired her mission to elevate LTQR as a discipline in its own right.

Writing The Book: Lessons Learnt

Writing Ensuring Excellence also changed Grazina’s own perspective. The process gave her a chance to step back and look at the bigger picture the “why” behind LTQR, rather than just day-to-day tasks. It reinforced that quality management isn’t simply about compliance but about building a culture of trust, accountability and safety that stretches across entire lifecycles.

Grazina also gained a deeper appreciation for the people behind the records: engineers, managers, inspectors and everyone else who contributes to building something reliable. “I now explain not just what needs to be done,” she says, “but why it matters.”

For Grazina, the most rewarding aspect has been the opportunity to share knowledge she had to learn on the job, helping others start their careers more confidently. Holding the finished book in her hands, with KSG’s support behind the project, has been a proud milestone.
